Sarb has been a federal public servant with Canada Borders Agency for 27 years, and a sitting School Trustee. She has three children with her husband Roger, and her son is on the autism spectrum.
For me, public service has always been about people, protecting them, listening, and working together to build something better.

Sarb Rai has proudly called the Township of Langley home for over 25 years, where she lives with her husband Roger and their three children. As a mother, federal public servant, and elected school trustee, she brings a grounded and real-world perspective to leadership, with a focus on building safe, inclusive, and resilient communities.
A commitment to serving, protecting, and supporting people has guided Sarb’s life, and it starts right here in Langley.
With over 27 years of frontline public safety experience at the Canada Border Services Agency, Sarb has worked at one of British Columbia’s busiest ports of entry, operating in high-pressure environments where sound judgment, integrity, and decisiveness are critical. Her work has focused on protecting Canada’s borders and safeguarding national security, while also supporting the safety and well-being of communities.
Beyond frontline duties, Sarb has taken on complex challenges and worked closely with law enforcement and government partners to deliver practical and results-driven solutions. She brings deep experience in risk assessment, investigations, and conflict resolution, and she handles difficult situations with professionalism and composure. This has given her a clear understanding of how all levels of government must work together to keep communities safe and functioning effectively.
Sarb has always conducted herself as a firm, fair, and thoughtful leader. She makes tough decisions while earning respect and trust. She understands that strong public safety goes beyond enforcement. It also requires prevention, communication, and building confidence within the community.
In 2022, Sarb was elected as a School Trustee, where she has demonstrated principled and effective leadership. She has worked to improve accessibility in schools, strengthen inclusive education, and support student mental health and well-being. She has also supported the expansion of school capacity by advocating for new schools to meet growing enrollment in the community. Through her work and community involvement, she stays closely connected to the needs of students, families, and the broader community. She has shown a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility, including voting against trustee pay increases to ensure resources remain focused on students and families.
Sarb’s dedication to public service is deeply personal. As a mother of a child on the autism spectrum, and having supported a child through bullying and mental health challenges, she understands firsthand the realities families face and where systems need to do better. This lived experience drives her commitment to creating safer and more inclusive environments for every child and every family.
Sarb understands how government works and how to make it work better for people. She is committed to listening, working collaboratively, and delivering real and practical results for the Township of Langley.
Sarb is proud to be running with Mayor Eric Woodward and the Progress for Langley team, with a clear focus on getting real results for the community. She believes strong leadership is not about one person. It is about a team that listens, works hard, and delivers. Sarb is ready to get to work for you.
