TESS ROUSE

Tess Rouse was born and raised in Langley and has lived in nearly every corner of the community. She brings more than 16 years of experience across local, regional, and provincial government, including over a decade with the Township of Langley. That experience has given her a strong understanding of how decisions get made and what it takes to move good ideas forward.

Tess began her government career with the Township, where she held leadership roles in climate action and sustainability. Her work spanned transportation, land use, buildings, water, waste, and community planning.

She led the development of the Township’s Climate Action Strategy and helped establish the framework for a new Transportation and Mobility Strategy. She also advanced electric vehicle charging infrastructure, led the strategy for converting streetlights to LED technology, and developed the Connected Communities Pilot to improve pedestrian and cycling connections into Fort Langley.

She has since brought that local government experience to the Province of British Columbia, where she leads provincial policy and programs in the areas of waste and the circular economy. Her work requires collaboration across government and with local communities, giving her a broader understanding of how provincial decisions intersect with the work municipalities do every day.

For Tess, her passion is building a Langley people truly love to live in, with vibrant community spaces, recreation, arts and culture, thriving local businesses, access to parks and nature, and a natural environment that is protected as the community grows.

Known for building strong relationships, challenging the status quo, and finding practical ways to bring good ideas to the table, Tess believes in action and getting things done. She wants to help Langley grow thoughtfully while preserving the sense of community that makes people proud to call it home.
